THE KLAXONS — Twin Fire
The Klaxons had been the KLF (or even the Shaman) of the 21st Century whenever their space-age introduction album arrived in our laps in ’06. However, these were thankfully far better. Sure, bits of the recording sounded such as they were “a bunch of very terribly dressed jokers have been whinging it”, but it would be a damn good album nonetheless – particularly those wonderful appealing pop single people. The new recording, four many years later, unfortunately failed to catch the record-buying public’s creativity in the same way.
This can be a shame, as their new recording contains a few nuggets, with this becoming one of them. These types of pounding drums and filthy strung away guitars heavy in the background using the old nu-rave seem is still there, however metal maker Ross Robinson offers scuzzed it up somewhat and remaining us along with nu-rave distortion. The actual brilliant support vocals gives the melody the traditional Klaxons strange pop-hook. Twin Fire is warm and the Klaxons take presctiption fire…however the pop purists may get a bit of a aching head.
