John Travolta’s Singing Career Is As Good As Over Now
John Joseph Travolta, one of four brothers and two sisters, was born to Helen and Salvatore in 1954 in the city of New York. His father was a salesman in a tire company and mother was a high school drama teacher. She was a great influence on all the siblings, especially John, and all of them excelled in either singing or acting. All his brothers and sisters have worked in films or TV at one point of time or the other. Little john was very talented from the beginning and he was a multi faceted personality. He sang and danced particularly well. John was skinny when he was a kid and was lovingly called The Bones. He enrolled in dance classes as a kid and was very fluid in all dance forms. He even won a twist contest as a kid.
At 16, john dropped out of school and moved to New York to make a career in singing and acting. He got his break on TV, and did acting and singing in many TV programs. It was a serial called Welcome Back, Kotter that made people sit and take notice of this beautiful boy who could sing and dance so well. Soon, in seventies his career in films began when he got Saturday Night Fever, a Hollywood musical that would break all records at the box office. The film received critical acclaim and was a huge hit among the masses. This was a pure musical and the inherent talent of Travolta came out very well as Tony Manero, who worked in a disco to run away from harsh realities of life. Later, inn his second film grease and a Broadway serial, John also got a chance to sing and dance.
It was when he had a strong footing in Holly wood that John tried his hands at singing. He worked hard on his singing career and soon gave a smashing hit in ‘Let Her In’. Not many today would believe that the songs sung by john at that time entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 10. His singing efforts were lauded by the audience as well as critics but he could not concentrate on singing as he was busy with acting all the time.
