Myth#1: You have to start learning at a very young age to be an expert someday. Now, this is so not true. Some people actually started to learn at age 40 and still got really god at playing the acoustic guitar. You don’t have to start at a very young age. The key is constant practice and dedication to really be an expert in playing the stringed instrument.
Myth#2: Music should be in your bloodline. Not really. All these talks that you should have a natural talent for music or runs in the blood are really incredible. All you need is the interest and desire to learn and you will. A star is made, not born.
Myth#3: You need to get formal lessons in order to learn. What’s great about playing the acoustic guitar is that you don’t really need formal lessons. One can learn how to play the instrument on his own through lessons online or even from friends and family members. With the right attitude to learn, you will learn playing the well loved instrument in no time.
Myth#4: It is important that you learn to read music from the standard notation. There are actually a lot of musicians who do not know how to read music notes or have not seen one they’re entire lives! And yet, this did not prevent them from becoming great musicians.
Some myths are very obvious to be untrue, but there are a lot which some people actually believe in and this could be their first stumbling block in learning to play everybody’s favorite instrument- the guitar.
